Meet the Golf Pro

Shawn Spears, PGA Professional PRO_Letters_872[1]

I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO where I spent most of my childhood playing just about any sport I could, but wasn’t introduced to the game of golf until I was in college. I spent several years managing a couple different retail stores while I continued to play golf recreational. I later decided to take my passion for golf and turn it into a career. I moved to Orlando, FL where I attended The Golf Academy of America. This gave me a great opportunity to learn the game of golf from both a teaching and players aspect. I later graduated from The Golf Academy and moved back to Evansville where I accepted a job at Evansville Country Club as the Assistant Golf Professional. During my seven years there it gave me the opportunity to apply my education while learning the golf operation on a first hand basis and grow as a golf professional. I was then offered the Head Golf Professional position at Eagle Valley Golf Course. While I was at Eagle Valley I finished the PGM program and was elected to PGA membership as a Class A PGA Professional. After a year at Eagle Valley Golf course I moved here to Oak Meadow Country Club as the Head Golf Professional. As a golf professional I love teaching the game of golf to others as well as the relationships I have made with people over time. One of the things I love the most about the game of golf is what it stands for ethically. Golf teaches and promotes honesty and integrity as well as good sportsmanship between players. These are things that were taught to me as a young child and I try to apply in my own life with others.
